Animator
Unannounced Project
Currently unannounced narrative indie studio is looking for an Animator to create compelling animations for our upcoming debut title. Women, Queer and BIPOC candidates are especially encouraged to apply. This role is remote and provides flexible work hours. Project communication is online, including calls/screen share. Compensation commensurate on skills and relevant experience.
Role:
The individual we’re looking for will be able to help take ownership of animations for an indie narrative project currently in pre-production.
Animate characters, props, and environmental assets.
Bring stylized designs to life with expressive character animation.
Push boundaries of stylized animation in 3D.
Implement animations in Unreal and verify functionality.
Creation of both custom and loop-cycle based animations.
Take ownership of implementing animation blends for seamless transitions between loop states.
Ensure quality representation of animation behaviors in Unreal.
Needs:
We don’t expect or require a set number of years’ experience or shipped titles for this role. If candidates feel they can perform the listed abilities and can demonstrate the following qualifications, we will consider your application.
Maya/3DS Max, Unreal
Create animation with artistry and attention to body movement, anticipation, follow-through, squash and stretch, and other core principles of animation.
Work in tandem with a character artist and/or rigger to ensure fidelity of mesh flow.
Build upon a visual language style for character animations, create and show uniquely individual personalities per character.
Ability to work within a narrative-driven environment, to plus key storytelling moments.
Collaborate with the Creative Director, Art Director, and team as applicable throughout the process.
Ability to meet key milestone deadlines.
Implement feedback from the Art Director in a timely manner for deliverables.
Work with game designers/engineers to ensure animations integrate as expected in the engine.
Problem-solving capabilities and technical understanding.
Communication, independent time-management and organizational skills.
Ability to work remotely and communicate via calls/screen share video conference.
Task driven, self-motivated, proactive.
Nice to haves:
Experience with shader-driven animation.
Experience working directly with voice over lines.
Traditional animation background.
Cinematics animation experience.
Strong facial animation examples.
Layer-based timeline animation implementation experience.
